Slain Woman Mistaken for Halloween Decoration

Neighbors who saw a murdered woman's body hanging by her sleeve from a chain link fence Tuesday at first thought it was a Halloween decoration, reports CBS affiliate WKRC.

Law enforcement officials in the southern Ohio town of Chillicothe said Wednesday that 31-year-old Rebecca Cade was apparently in a fight, ran from her attacker, and got into a lot surrounded by a fence. Police say she apparently tried to climb the fence to get away, but her clothes got caught, trapping her, reports CBS affiliate WBNS.
Officials say she was beaten to death.
When a group of construction workers discovered the gruesome crime scene was not a Halloween prank, they called 911, reports WKRC.
Police in Chillicothe have been investigating a string of suspicious deaths and disappearances of local women. Police say there's no evidence to suggest this latest case is connected to a string of suspicious deaths and disappearances of local women, but they say they're not ruling it out.

Ross County Prosecutor Matt Schmidt says a bloody rock recovered by investigators was apparently used in the attack.
Earlier Wednesday a judge ordered 27-year-old Donnie Cochenour Jr. held on $2 million bond after he pleaded not guilty to a charge of murder in Cade's death.
Chillicothe Police Chief Keith Washburn said Cade and Cochenour knew each other, but it's not clear why he attacked her, reports WBNS.
Cade had a 15-month-old son, WBNS reported.
